Configure Remote Service IPs

This interface allows you to configure a remote mail server and namserver IP addresses that your server will then consider as local addresses.

Remote Mail Server IP Addresses

This allows you to specify the IP addresses of a remote service that handles the mail for one or more domains. You could use this feature to specify the address of a third-party spam filter service.

The system stores these entries in the "/etc/ips.remotemail" file as a line-separated list.

Add a Mail Server IP Address

In order to add a remote mail server IP addresses you will need to perform the following;

First click the "Remote Mail Server IPs" tab. Enter the IP addresses that you want to add in the available textbox, one address per line and click "Save".

In order to remove remote mail server IP addresses, delete the entries that you no longer want to use from the textbox.

Remote Nameserver IP Addresses

This allows you to specify the IP addresses of remote nameservers that your system may uses. You could use this feature to allow users to create remote parked or addon domains.

In order to do this, specify the nameservers' IP addresses. You will only need to add one of the nameservers for the domain, not all of them. If you add the IP address of the domain itself (if different from the nameserver's IP address) the system will not authorize that domain.

The system stores these entries in the "/etc/ips.remotedns" file as a line-separated list. If you use a remotely-clustered DNS nameserver, you must manually add the IP addresses.

Add a Remote Nameserver IP Address

In order to add remote nameserver IP addresses you will need to perform the following steps;

First click the "Remote Name Server IPs" tab. Enter the IP addresses that you want to add in the available textbox, one address per line and click "Save".

In order to remove the remote nameserver IP addresses, delete the entries that you no longer want to use from the textbox.

The Allow Remote Domains Option

In order to allow your users to create remotely parked or addon domains that override the nameservers that the "Configure Remote Service IPs" interface lists, you will need to enable the "Allow Remote Domains" option in WHM's Tweak Settings interface. For security reasons however, it is strongly recommend that you do not enable this option. If you enable this option, you must also enable the Prevent cPanel users from creating specific domains option in WHM's Tweak Settings interface.
